Dr. Yvonne Gloria McLeod (Nee Anaquod)
March 4, 1951 – September 28, 2022
Dr. Yvonne McLeod passed peacefully at the age of 71 while her loving husband held her hand. She left to be with her Heavenly Father in Heaven on September 28, 2022.
Yvonne is predeceased by her parents Vincent Anaquod and Marion Anaquod (Nee Ketchemonia); Father-in-law Gilbert McLeod (Sr.) and Dorothy McLeod; Grandparents Tom Anaquod and Genova Thorne; Adopted daughter Crystal Langan; Adopted mothers Clara Pasqua and Doris Desnomie; Brothers Willard Anaquod, Leonard Ketchemonia (Sr) Glen Anaquod and Larry Anaquod; Sister Connie Langan; Sister-in-law Edith (William) Gladue; Brother-in-law Steve (Bernice) Bellegarde; Nephews Glen (Streaky) Anaquod, Leonard Ketchemonia (Jr), Carlos Anaquod, Raymond McLeod, Shawn Bellgarde; Nieces Nicole Anaquod, Deniel McKay.
Left to mourne is her loving husband Alfred Leonard McLeod; Daughter Rachel McLeod; Son Gilbert (Leanne) McLeod; Grandchildren Vincent (Samantha) Desnomie, Deidra (Brandon) Desnomie, Rylan (Jerri) Hardisty-McLeod, Tristan McLeod, Thaddeaus (Breanna) McLeod, Tyson McLeod, Susan Settee; Great grandchildren Mia Hardisty, Holden Hardisty, Mac Hardisty, Garen Desnomie and Bennett Nelson;
Brothers Eugene Anaquod, Robert Anaquod; Sisters Diane Redman, Angie Redman, Terry (Tina) McLeod, Bernice McLeod, Joe (Jaquie) McLeod, Donald McLeod, and Noreen (Richard) Ironquill. Yvonne also leaves behind her beloved pets Demus, Shadrack, Solomon and the original Cyrus, and so many other family and friends.
Dr. Yvonne McLeod was born on March 4, 1951 in Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask. Dr. Yvonne McLeod touched many hearts over the years as an educator and education administrator. Dr. Yvonne McLeod was a ground breaker in her field of Leadership in First Nation women. She was a true example of First Nation Women Leadership in Education which she exemplified servitude leadership. Her knowledge on this subject has been published in many articles and books for others to learn from. She was a firm believer that the best way to connect with others is through love and she modeled this in her daily interactions. Her smile and laughter brought many people together. Dr. Yvonne McLeod loved her Lord Jesus Christ and demonstrated faith for herself and others. She was proud to be a Saulteaux/Cree woman who respected her heritage, culture and traditions. Most importantly she was an amazing wife, mother, sister, and friend to many who will all have special memories of her in their hearts forever.
Special thank you to the Regina General Hospital staff that provided the medical care and support for our Sweets. A Wake will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at the Peepeekisis First Nation Pesakastew School gym at 4:00 pm.
