Obituary
Doris Edna Jellison, age 87, passed away on August 12th at the Pine Island Lodge Nursing Home in Maidstone, Saskatchewan where she had lived comfortably for the past 3 years after leaving her home in Frenchman Butte, SK.
Doris was born on March 25, 1935 to Elof & Gunhild Olson on their farm in the rural area of Deer Ridge, SK. Her early childhood started in the Deer Ridge area however her family moved to Nelson, BC where she started her elementary schooling. The family returned to Deer Ridge where she continued her schooling until leaving to complete her high school Weldon SK. Her yearning to teach lead her to Teachers College in Saskatoon, SK where she graduated in 1954. Her first teaching job was in Garrick, SK, where she met & married the love of her life, Earle Jellison.
For many years, Doris taught school, favouring the young children, and children with special needs. Doris & Earle moved a lot due to Earle’s career with stops in The Pas, MB, Grande Prairie, AB, North Battleford, SK, Thompson, MB, and Flin Flon, MB. Doris taught in each community they lived in. In 1977, Earle & Doris made career changes and moved to Eston, SK where they both worked and ministered at the Eston Full Gospel Bible Institute. They stayed there until 1986 when they lived briefly in Saskatoon SK, then moved to Calgary AB where Earle worked as the administrator for the ACOP. In 1988 they again made a career change and moved to Frenchman Butte, SK to assume pastoring duties at the Riverview Community Church until their retirement. Mom loved this community and its people as she struggled to leave in 2019 as she felt their love.
Doris had 5 children, and loved each one dearly. She was a very special daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, auntie… and friend to so many. She will be greatly missed.
“For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” 2 Cor 5:7-8
Doris was predeceased by her parents Gunhild & Elof Olson, her husband Earle Jellison, children Patty-Janine Jellison, Leonard Earle Jellison, and Shelley Lynn Clark as well as numerous sisters and brothers in-law.
