Gray, Donald George
December 2, 1946 – November 9, 2022
Donald Gray passed in his sleep in his 76th year in St. Catharines, Ontario on November 9th, 2022.
Survived by his loving wife Barbara, children Noella (Andrew Ekblad) and Steven (Allison Dobek), grandchildren Ada Ekblad, Callum Ekblad, Gavin Gray, and Alden Gray. He is also remembered fondly by extended family and friends.
Predeceased by his parents Bill and Hattie Gray, brothers Vernon and Godfrey, and nephew Billy.
It was through shared experiences volunteering with Operation Crossroads Africa that he met his wife Barbara, to whom he was married on August 29, 1970.
Don was born on December 2nd 1946, in Campbellton, NB. A graduate of Brock University (BA, BEd, MEd), Don spent his career teaching with the District School Board of Niagara. After working for several years as an elementary French teacher, he spent 20 years as the teacher responsible for the educational program within the St. Catharines General Hospital mental health department. His commitment to education continued in retirement where he was a member of the Retired Teachers of Ontario (RTO), including a period as President of RTO for District 14.
Don was also active in the community, serving in various capacities with Design for a New Tomorrow, Habitat for Humanity, and his church Silver Spire / St. Paul Street United Church. He enjoyed reading, gardening, skiing, spending time with family, travelling to warm destinations, and telling stories and jokes. A friendly and outgoing Maritimer, Don was always stopping for a chat with a neighbour or finding a way to help a friend in need.

A celebration of life service will be held in Spring 2023.
