It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dianne Josephine Kanigan (nee Bachynski) who passed away peacefully in her sleep, in the late evening hours of June 2nd, 2022 in Kootenay Lake Hospital. She was born in the old Trail Tadanac Hospital in Trail, B.C. on May 23, 1942 to Joseph M. and Theodora M. Bachynski. Dianne had just turned 80 years of age prior to her passing after suffering from various illnesses and heart ailments. She is survived by her two children, Debbie (Spencer) and Michael (Kristine) three grandchildren Austin, Sean and Kayla, all of Nelson BC and two great grandchildren Levi and Lexi. Brother Dan (Teresa) nephew Peter of Fruitvale, B.C. and Angela of Vernon, B.C. She was predeceased by her parents in 1994/95 and husband Fred in 2003. In May of 1968 she married Fred Kanigan of Castlegar they lived on Second Street in Nelson then later they moved to the Silver King Road farm where she was raised. Her favorite get away was to the cabin at Queens Bay built in 1970 where the family met for boating, fishing and water skiing.
The family would like to thank the in house nursing care, the ambulance drivers, paramedics, doctors and caring nurses in the Trail and Nelson Hospitals. Cremation has taken place with the ashes to be privately interred at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Service.
