NORTHEY, David Courtland –
Passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on March 3, 2022 at the age of 83 years.
He was born on February 4, 1939 in Peterborough, Ontario. He grew up in Oshawa. He graduated from Queen’s University with a BA and Masters in Theology and was ordained in 1964. He served congregations of the United Church of Canada in Saskatchewan, Labrador and Ontario. Dave was passionate about theology, aviation, gardening and sailing. He loved connecting with people both in person and online.
Dave is survived and sadly missed by his wife Betty Northey (née Bilmer), his daughter Angela Northey, son-in-law William Ruddock and grandchildren Liam and Hazel.
He is also survived by many family members including a sister (Carole), sisters-in-law, brothers- in-law and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Bob and Charles and sister Brenda. He had an especially close relationship with his maternal grandmother (May Merrill).
The family is thankful for all the support from friends and family over these difficult times. They are also filled with gratitude for the extraordinary care from Dr. Karen Kennedy and the entire palliative care team that allowed Dave to pass at home, according to his wishes.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Dublin Street United Church, 68 Suffolk St. W. Guelph on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held following the service at the church from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
No registration is required, but please continue to social distance and wear a mask.
