Dale Scribner Aiken, 87, of Moncton, passed away peacefully
at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, November 24, 2022. Born in
Dunkin, Quebec, he was the son of the late Leon and Grace (Scribner)
Aiken.
Dale grew up in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. He graduated
from Concordia and McGill universities in Montreal, working in the
Montreal area as a teacher, school principal and Director of Studies.
In 1970, he accepted the position of School Superintendent for the
English schools in communities surrounding Moncton.
His family was an important part of his life. His wife, two
children and four grandchildren were his pride and joy. Dale belonged
to several professional organizations, chaired both the Moncton and
New Brunswick library boards, chaired the Community Services Board and
more recently was the president of the men’s Probus Club of
Moncton. He attended St. George’s Anglican Church, where he
served on the Church Vestry for two terms.
During his life, Dale felt thankful and blessed for his
family and the wonderful people he met along the way.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth
Aiken (nee Kelsall); children, Margot Noonan (Richard) and Scott Aiken
(Kim); grandchildren, Andrew, Emma, Sarah and Molly; brother, Gary
Aiken (Trudy); as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family
members.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister,
Rena.
In keeping with Dale’s wishes there will be no
visitation or service.
The family would like to say a sincere Thanks! to the Nurses,
Doctors and Staff of The Moncton Hospital ICU and Palliative Care
Units.
