The family of Catherine Hartley-Boe are saddened to announce the passing of Cathie on Monday August 8, 2022 at the age of 70 years. Cathie is survived by her husband, Norman Boe; her children, Elton (Tracy) St. John, Clinton St. John, Andrea St. John (Dale) and Michelle (Veronica) St. John; her siblings, Cheryl (Steve) Powers, Kim Duck, Bill Hartley, Norma (Bear) Hartley-Radford. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Zane, Jax, Croston, Holden and Sydney and much extended family and friends. Cathie was predeceased by her half sister, Norma Roberts of Bethesda, Wales and she passed away in 2018.
Cathie had a strong passion for Family, Faith, and Fun. Cathie lived and worked in the Red Deer area for over fifty years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1994 and worked in healthcare as a Unit Clerk and a Registered Nurse for her entire career. She also worked as a Nursing Instructor for Red Deer College and enjoyed teaching others the art of compassion along with the science of medicine and helping people heal.
Cathie loved people and learning about people. She spread kindness, tolerance and forgiveness no matter where she was, be it at church, in a line at Costco or waiting at the doctors office. Cathie strongly believed in paying it forward and demonstrated her generosity on a regular basis.
A Celebration of Cathie’s Life will be held at the Living Stones Church, 2020 – 40 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1: 00 p.m. Cathie will be greatly missed by family and friends and to honor her spirit the family requests that in lieu of flowers; if desired, Memorial Donations in Cathie’s honor may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca or to the Canadian Lung Association at www.lung.ca.
