Catherine Case Hamilton Tuesday November 22nd 2022

It is with profound sadness that her family announces the sudden and unexpected passing of Catherine Mary Case (nee Hamilton) on November 22nd, two weeks shy of her 69th birthday. Catherine was the extremely proud and devoted wife of Glenn Case for over 45 years, and the adored mother of their two children, Jennifer (Aaron Marshall) of Campbellford, ON and Andrew (Danielle Boughen) of Garden Hill, ON. She was also a loving grandmother to Benjamin and Mackenzie Marshall and Aiden and Madison Case.
Catherine was born in Toronto on December 5th, 1953, the beloved and spoiled only daughter to her parents, Charles and Thelma Hamilton (nee Dyer) (both predeceased). Cherished by Glenn’s parents, Gordon and Elizabeth (Betty) Case (both predeceased), she deeply loved her cousins, Suzanne (Laszlo) Buhasz, Michael (Beryl) Dyer, Geoffrey (Marcia) Dyer, and the late Robert Dyer. Catherine was also deeply loved by her in-laws, Cathy Lee (nee Case) and Brian and Lise (nee Pidgeon) Case and enjoyed a special “outlaw” bond with Cathy Lee’s husband, Brian Lee (predeceased).
In 1977, leaving her career as a medical secretary behind, Catherine moved with Glenn to Port Hope to begin a new life chapter as a wife. She worked at Eldorado Nuclear Limited until 1982 when a new adventure began as the proud stay-at-home mom of Jennifer and Andrew. However, Catherine never lost contact with her many co-workers, and for many years would delight in reuniting for wonderful long-winded lunches out with them. She was also fortunate to tag along with Glenn on several of his worldly work-related travels, which took them to South Africa, England, the United States and across Canada.
Catherine touched the lives of so many through her efforts and countless volunteer hours with the Port Hope Parks, Recreation and Culture Committee as well as the Children’s Series of The Friends of Music, where her young children felt so special to “sit at the front of the taped line” with a front-row view of every concert! More recently, she completed her tenure as a sitting member of the Board of Directors with the Capitol Theatre Heritage Foundation, after which she remained a dedicated volunteer at the Capitol Theatre alongside Glenn.
Many of Jennifer’s and Andrew’s friends from childhood would know Catherine as “the Hot Dog Lady” thanks to her years of volunteering as a lunch mom at Central Public School. Catherine never missed a school trip, sporting event, concert, or play alongside her children. She was the most dedicated and loving mother, and her love carried through to her grandchildren.
Catherine will be forever missed by all of those closest to her. The impact of her choices in life have helped give enduring strength to both Jennifer and Andrew in their own lives.
Visitation for Catherine will be held on Monday November 28th 2022, from 4 p.m. –7 p. m. at The Ross Funeral Chapel, 135 Walton Street, Port Hope, and on Tuesday November 29th 2022, from 11 a.m. until the time of the celebration of life service at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Port Hope and District Health Care Foundation would be appreciated
