Obituary
Carolyn C. Lee Hoeg, 64, Valley, NS. It is with deep sadness that we the family announce the sudden passing of our devoted and loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Sister Carol. Born in Amherst, NS, she was the daughter of the late Thomas “Tom” and Dorothy “Dot” Rector. Carol started her working career at the age of 15 at Zellers in Amherst as a cashier, she spent 36 years with her Zellers family and held many positions through the years and worked her way up from Cashier to Supervisor, Human Resource manager in Amherst, Manager in Moncton and Truro and she also worked for Zellers District office. After Zellers closed, Carol became manager at Michaels Crafts in Truro and held that position for 6 years until her health would no longer permit her to do the job she loved. As with Zellers, she quickly adopted her Michaels co-workers as family. While Carol had a great Love for her work family and career, the greatest loves in her life were those closest family members that she is survived by, her loving husband, Bruce, of 42 years of marriage, her only child and best friend, her daughter Susan (Kenneth) Rushton, her pride and joy, her grandchildren Jennica and Jeremy, her dear brother Bruce Rector and her fur babies, Winston, Willie and Minnie. Carol’s love didn’t just end with her immediate family but many other extended family and friends that she cherished. To say Carol was a women of many talents would be an understatement, there wasn’t anything that she tried that she couldn’t do and she excelled at all she did. Carol had the voice of an angel, she could play any musical instrument that she chose to play and had a talent for song writing, one of the most well known songs was the title track for her one and only CD, Buttercups & Daisies, which she wrote for her precious granddaughter. Carol was also impeccable at knitting, painting, sewing, cooking and baking to name a few. Carol poured Love into everything she put her hands to. Besides her parents Carol was predeceased by her infant sister, Gloria Rector and her infant son, Bruce Douglas Hoeg Jr. Carol will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, her immediate family, extended, work and music families and many other friends and peoples lives who she touched with her kindness, generosity and bright spirit that will continue to shine even after her earthly body is no longer with us. As one of Carol’s favorite gospel songs says “Beyond the rain, they’ll be no more dying, no more crying no more pain. When we put our lives in the hands of Jesus, he will lead us beyond the rain.” Carol’s visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, December 9 at MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, 5075 Main Street, Oxford. Carol’s Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 10 at Wentworth Recreation Center. Carol was known as our Christmas Carol and loved this time of year so if anyone wishes to , a Christmas arrangement would be most welcomed and appreciated. Carol had a great love for all animals, so those who wish to make a donation in Carol’s memory, we ask it be made to the Truro SPCA or any animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
