Obituary
Betty Jenny Woycechowsky (August 26, 1930 – January 22, 2022)
There is now an Angel among us all. Betty Woycechowsky passed away on January 22, 2022 at the age of 91.
Betty was the definition of unconditional love. She surrounded herself with it, and she shared it with everyone around – throughout her youth in a family of 14 siblings, and later when she started her own family with the marriage to Frank Woycechowsky, the “love of her life” in 1956.
They shared five precious children and the family grew to include 13 beloved grandchildren and later, 17 great-grandchildren. Betty created a world of love and joy for everyone around – from her sweet smile and cute jokes at local coffee shops, restaurants and her favorited weekly stop, the IGA – to a kitchen always filled with home-cooked deliciousness, coffee and treats for everyone, and a living room filled with countless photographs of family members that adored her as much as she did them. And, if you could hear it over the chatter in what was often a full house, there was always room for toe-tapping and finger-snapping to the tunes of classic country and Elvis Presley playing in the background.
Despite the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of her husband in 1986, Betty persevered to cultivate love, joy and constant support for her family and friends over the many years she spent as a widow. It was also always guaranteed that she was cultivating beauty and growth in another love of her life – gardening. If it could grow, Betty grew it. If it could bloom, she made sure it did. She loved the soil and bringing everything in it to life.
The life and love Betty gave to her beautiful garden and yard was the perfect representation of the life and love she provided to everyone around her. She was always welcoming, encouraging, and radiated positivity, calmness, and stability. She is the sweetest of souls and will be missed dearly by everyone that knew and loved her.
Betty, truly an angel throughout her life, is survived by her 5 children: Les (Susan), Harvey (Darlene), Dianne (Brian), Angela, and Allen; siblings Nadine and Norman; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family members. Sadly, she was pre-deceased by her parents, James and Olga Jensen, many of her siblings, her husband, and her granddaughter Trish.
In true Betty-fashion, with the request of no-fuss and true simplicity, combined with pandemic-related restrictions, a private family service will be held to celebrate Betty’s life and lay her to rest.
If you knew Betty and wish to remember her, do it over a nice cup of coffee with friends, and think of her when you see a blooming begonia. See the beauty in everything, just as she managed to do throughout her entire life.
