Betty-Jean Virginia Greene
1943-2022
The death of Betty-Jean Virginia Greene, wife of the late
James Edwin Greene occurred at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on
November 7, 2022. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on March 22, 1943, she was
the daughter of the late Judson A. and Leona G. Green. A loving
mother, grandmother and stepsister, she is survived by her children:
Kendall (Theresa) Green of Saint John NB, Heather Green of Grand Manan
NB, Shelly (Behn) Mullen of Grand Manan NB and Barry Green (Kathy
McLaughlin) of Grand Manan NB; 10 grandchildren; 10 great
grandchildren; stepbrother: Leroy Markee (Patty Cook) of Grand Manan
NB; stepsister: Donna(Allison) Tatton of Alberta as well as several
nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is
predeceased by her husband’s; Erling Green and James Greene and
stepsister Amanda Lively.
Prior to her retirement, Betty-Jean worked for various
employers on the island in both the fishing and hospitality industry.
In 1988, she went to work for Canada Post as a post mistress where she
stayed until her retirement. During this time, she met many people and
it was a job she truly loved. She was a lover of the outdoors and
loved gardening as well as knitting. She also had a fondness for cats.
Betty-Jean loved spending time with her family and was the family’s as
well as the islands unofficial taxi driver. She was always available
to drive anyone to where they wanted to go. Betty-Jean will be sadly
missed by all who knew her.

Funeral Service is to be announced. In Betty-Jean’s memory, donations
to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
