Obituary
Peacefully on Saturday November 5, 2022 at Post Inn Village, Oakville. Born on April 17, 1925 in Leamington Spa, England, the only child of William Albert Britton and Esther Mary (nee Oates).
Educated at Highbury Hill High School, London, England, including four years as an evacuee in Huntingdon, near Cambridge. Married on April 4, 1953 at Leamington Spa, England, and emigrated to Canada in March of 1967 with her husband and daughters Lesley and Michelle. Served as a Platoon Officer with the Nottingham Civil Defence Corps. Twenty-two year employee of the Wellesley Hospital until retirement in 1990. A volunteer at the Sir John Colborne Recreation Centre for Seniors and with the Red Cross. Lifetime member of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, serving as Commander of the Oakville Power & Sail Squadron 1983-1984, and as District Commander of York West District 1987 – 1988.
Wife for 32 years (obtaining a divorce in 1985); a good mother, Nanna and friend; she will be very much missed by daughters Lesley and her husband Fred Lowther and Michelle, her grandchildren Alexander, and Marilyn and her great-grandchildren Cerilla and Savannah. She will be fondly remembered by her family in England; her sister-in-law Sheila Durrant, nephews Chris, Paul, Andrew, Simon and Fergus Durrant and their families, cousin Shirley Buswell and her sons. Beryl was predeceased by brothers-in-law Jim and Phillip Durrant, sister-in-law Dorothy Durrant, niece Vicky Durrant and her beloved cousin Dinah Young.
