With great sadness, we announce the passing of Becky Lynne Morison (née Murray) on December 21st, 2022. Beloved wife of Gordon Morison and dearly loved mother of Rachel Morison and Mackenzie Morison. Dearest sister of Susan Murray, Kim Murray, and Dawn Prus (née Murray) and youngest daughter of the late Alec Murray and late Ruth Murray (née Pilgrim). She will also be missed by son-in-law Tyler James and new granddaughter Lily James as well as future son-in-law Michael Chang.
Becky was born on November 22nd, 1961, and grew up in Hamilton, Ontario. She attended Western University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English following which she obtained a degree in Public Relations from Humber College.
Becky cherished family above all. She married husband Gordon on June 4th, 1988, and they were happily married for 34 years. They went on to have two daughters, Rachel and Mackenzie. Following the birth of her daughters, Becky chose to stay home to raise them. Becky was a devoted mother, wife, sister, and aunt leaving behind many beautiful memories for her family.
Becky’s favourite activities revolved around family. She enjoyed weekends in Thornbury skiing and snowshoeing at Alpine Ski Club with family and friends, and summers in Muskoka spending time with family.
She was an avid outdoor enthusiast and environmentalist having regularly supported environmental projects. Becky’s love for wildlife and nature led her to become a regular supporter of the World Wildlife Fund. She was an avid hiker and loved walks on the Bruce Trail, most often accompanied by her family’s chocolate lab.
When her daughters were school aged she was highly involved on the PA (Parent Association) at Hillfield Strathallan College. Through her PTA work she helped foster school spirit and supported numerous charities and school fundraising initiatives. Becky assisted with many school events, but most of all developed good friendships.
Becky was known to be kind and empathetic by all who knew her with a smile and laugh that brightened the room. She was a particularly blessed conversationalist and was often the last to leave social events. Her laughter and voice were dearly missed by all these last few years as a result of Alzheimer’s disease, but her spirit will always be kept alive in the hearts and minds of those who love her.
Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service of Becky to be held at Melrose United Church at 86 Homewood Ave in Hamilton on December 27th, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow at The Pearl Hotel and Spa located at 3 Elizabeth Street in Burlington. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to World Wildlife Fund or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada as expressions of sympathy.
