It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Beatrice (nee Marynuk) Gaba on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at Health Sciences North Sudbury, at 91 years of age, with loving family at her side.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Beatrice was born on July 2,1931 in Sudbury to Paraska (nee Burak) and Steven Marynuk (both predeceased). She was married to the love of her life, William (Bill) for 59 years (predeceased 2006). Together they had three children Jerry (Jean) of Sudbury, Michael (Elaine) of Miramichi, NB and Darlene (George) Shewchuk of Sudbury. Cherished Baba of Keri Shewchuk, Robert (Josee) Shewchuk, Kristine Shewchuk, Greg (Amy) Gaba, Kathy (Brent) Fraser, David Gaba and Baba Gaba (great grandmother) to Samantha, Alexis, Olivia, Andrew, Theresa, Tori, Curtis, Ava, Bethany, Colton, Aubrey and Marcus.
Dear sister of Peter (Betty) Marynuk, Helen (Ted predeceased) Zaharchuk, Nettie (David predeceased) Slobodian, Don (Adie) Marynuk, Ed (Judy) Marynuk, Kasha Zarichny (predeceased), Carol (Nick) Andreychuk (both predeceased), and Bob (Andria) Dymianiw. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Beatrice spent most of her younger years as a homemaker before going to work at K-Mart for over 20 years. She loved to knit and was a «Guardian Angel» knitting hats for babies in hospital. She loved to bake, bowl with Bill, and do word puzzles. She was a wonderful cook and loved hosting family dinners. She volunteered for various organizations including St. Mary Church, the Ukrainian Seniors, and the Ukrainian National Federation. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Resting at Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Visitation on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Panakhyda Wednesday 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass Thursday, December 29th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Civic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Mary’s Ukrainian Church would be appreciated.
