Barry (Baruch) Isaac Gringorten passed away on May 24th in Miami, Florida. Barry was the beloved husband of Marion (Stark) Gringorten (deceased April 9, 2020), loving and cherished parent to Elyse Chaplin and Marni Lennon, loving granddad of Jared and Jordanna Lennon, brother to Lawrence (Larry) Gringorten, Carla Baudot, and Risa Gringorten. Barry was an uncle to Laure Baudot and Mickey Gringorten and Barry was the cherished son of Morris and Pearl.
Barry had a remarkable warmth and creativity – he was the first official/certified convention planner in North America and designed brilliant and unique events all over the world. Barry had a passion for classical music, travel and great meals. He loved movies, especially comedies, and avidly watched the news and the history channel.
In 1980, Barry and his high school sweetheart, Marion Stark Gringorten, designed and built theirdream home in Sarasota, Florida.
Barry and Marion, who had originally met at Camp Interlochen and dated as teens, reconnected later in life and married on Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida in 1980 – They had an exceptional love and commitment to each other and Barry’s daily visits during the last ten years of Marion’s illness were a testament to their love. He was supported, loved, and cared for by his daughters, Elyse and Marni, and had cherished visits from his grandchildren.
The family is forever grateful to the wonderful team of caregivers, many of whom cared for Barry for many years and became a part of our family. Barry will be deeply missed by his family and many friends and will remain forever in our hearts.
A private family burial service will take place for Barry in Sarasota Florida at 10am EST on Tuesday May 31, 2022.
