Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Barbara Mae (Miller) McIntyre, loving wife of the late Sterling Alvin McIntyre, wish to announce her passing which occurred on January 6, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax, NS, on March 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Erroll O. and Arvilla ‘Belle’ (Osborne) Miller.
She had a vast working life. She was a music teacher in the 1960’s and 1970’s, and then gave secretarial and executive support and leadership to the NB Highway Patrol and the NB Land Registry Office. She owned and managed her own B&B for several years and served as a village councilor.
Barbara was a tireless volunteer and community supporter. She was a volunteer with the St. Martins Ambulance Service. She was a long-time churchwarden at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in St. Martins, and was the organist at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, St. Martins, St. Thomas Anglican Church, Black River, and Christ the King Anglican Church, Loch Lomond.
She was very involved with the Quaco Museum and Library from its inception, held numerous roles with the Association Museums New Brunswick, was a member of the Fundy Trail Board of Directors until recently, was a founding member of the St. Martins Old Home Week committee, to name a few. She was recognized for all her hard work and community accomplishments by being presented with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
She is survived by her sons; Robert and Glendon (Debra) McIntyre, her daughter Shauna Carson (Carl), grandchildren; Stephanie Dumaine (Patrick), Ashley Carson and Heather McIntyre, her soon to arrive great-grandchild Baby Dumaine, brothers-in law; Winston (Madeline) and Roger (Helen) McIntyre, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by her sister Jean Logan and brother Bertram Miller.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). The funeral service will take place at 1:00pm, on August 19, 2022, at the Church of Christ the King, 2000 Loch Lomond Road. It is requested that everyone attending the service should wear a mask. Interment to follow at St. Martins Community Cemetery. Donations, in memory of Barbara, may be made to the Church of Christ the King, Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation – Cancer Fund, or the Quaco Museum.
