Arthur’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Arthur James Best announces his passing on Thursday May 12, 2022, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook at the age of 80 years. Born at Rose Blanche, NL, Arthur was the son of the late Garland and Mary Ann (nee Rose) Best. He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters-in-law Kenneth Coleman, Darcy Hardy; Bessie Samson and Geraldine Enwood.
He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving wife of 57 years; Audrey Best (nee Enwood), his sons; Garland (Christy) Best and Maurice (Judy) Best, his grand children Maria, Danica, Katey, Gabrielle, Victoria and Olivia all of Almonte ON.
He also leaves to mourn his sisters: Carrie Coleman, Isle aux Morts, NL, and Joanne (Wallace) Hughes, Green Island Brook, NL. Brothers and sisters-in-law: Harvey Enwood, Port aux Basques, NL; Eva (Nobel) Kettle, Monton, NB; Albert (Selina) Enwood, Port aux Basques, NL; Phyllis Villaver, Faro, YK; Hubert (Shelly) Enwood, Laduc, AB; Goldie Hardy, Port aux Basques, NL; Marina Enwood, Tenton, ON; Bruce (Debbie) Enwood, Burnt Islands, NL; Deanna Enwood, Trenton, ON; Charlie Sampson Tumbler Ridge, BC; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Arthur was a generous, compassionate, and a loving man both of family and the people of his community. Thinking of others, he was the mayor of Rose Blanche-Harbour le Cou, served as a warden for the Anglican Parish of Rose Blanche, and served on numerous boards for the southwest region of Newfoundland including the hospital and school boards. He will be missed by all.
The family wishes to express thanks to Dr. Al Nabbot and the staff of Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre. Our gratitude is immeasurable.
Visitation will take place on Monday, May 16th, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at St. Michael’s and All Angel’s Anglican Church in Rose Blanche. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday May 17th, 2 PM at St. Michael’s and All Angel’s Anglican Church officiated by Rev. Mary Dianna Fry. Interment followed at Hillside Haven Anglican Cemetery, Isle aux Morts rd.
