Ardythe Jean O’Leary 2022

Ardythe Jean O’Leary
O’LEARY,
Ardythe Jean, of Upper Dyke, Kings Co., passed away peacefully on
Saturday, December 24, 2022, in the Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville after 6-months of lymphoma-related health decline. Born in
Berwick, NS, she was the daughter of the late Theodore D. and Ada M.
(Cook) Reeves.
Ardythe
is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert
O’Leary; sons, David (Lynn) O’Leary, North Alton
and Matthew O’Leary, Greenwood; daughter, Holly (Grant)
O’Leary, Halifax; grandchildren Hailey, Kara, Azaria, Rowan,
Taryn, Sophia, Ellie; great-granddaughter Kaitlyn; sisters, Anne
MacCumber, Diane Zimmerman, and Sharon (Carl) Adams, all of Cambridge;
and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was
predeceased by her brothers, Roderick (Jean) Reeves and Robert Reeves;
sisters, Gloria (John) MacIsaac and Doreen Brunt; brothers-in-law,
Bill Reid, John McIsaac, and Howard MacCumber; grandchildren, Isaac
and Tyler; and nephew Stephen.
Adored
by her husband and children, and all who knew her, Ardythe was first
and foremost a family woman, possessing an uncanny ability to always
know exactly what to say and do to make others feel accepted,
comforted and loved. A woman of compassion with a strong sense of
practicality, all who knew her were touched by her wisdom, strength
and good humour. She took the greatest pride in creating and
maintaining a home that offered hospitality and warmth to all who
entered. Children sparked a sense of wonderment and joy in her,
especially her grandchildren. Ardythe had a sharp mind. She had a
unique talent for numbers and finance. She could also play a cutthroat
game of cribbage with any unsuspecting opponent who may find
themselves lured in by her tea and sweets. A Christian woman of strong
faith, Ardythe’s church family was always an important part
of her life. She was a member of the First Cornwallis Baptist Church
and the Ladies Auxiliary for more than 50 years and served a number of
terms on the church’s Board of Deacons as well as the
Treasury and Finance Committee throughout the
years.

Ardythe’s husband and
children would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Valley
Regional Hospital for the utmost tender care given during her final
days. They are also appreciative of the many messages, phone calls,
visits and prayers from numerous family and friends that have helped
them through this difficult time.

Cremation has taken place and there
will be no visitation. All are welcome to attend a funeral service at
2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the First Cornwallis Baptist
Church in Canard, Kings Co., with the Reverend Stephen Wheaton
officiating. For those unable to attend, a video webcast will be
available on-line on Sunday, January 8 by 2:00 p.m. A burial will take
place at a private ceremony in the spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers,
donations in Ardythe’s memory may be made to the First Cornwallis
Baptist Church or the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the
White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. To view
