Andrew Joseph Batten of Simcoe, Ontario
December 3, 1955 – July 29, 2022
A fun-loving dad, devoted partner and treasured brother, Andrew died at home on Friday, July 29, 2022 with his family by his side, just as he wanted. In his 66 years, Drew loved and was loved by his beautiful daughters Louise and Grace Batten, his partner Jill Baker and his sisters Vicki and Bonita Batten. He delighted in being the favourite uncle of Kevin, Aileen and Graham Stevens, father-in-law to Charles Pitre and stepfather to David Nolan and Sarah Schotel and their families. Drew was an adventurer, who over the years, tried and excelled at skydiving, motorcycle riding, scuba diving, skeet shooting and snowmobiling. He loved good books, cold beer, strong coffee, classic cars, a perfect lawn and his loyal dog Ruby. Drew trained as an auto mechanic but could imagine, engineer, invent, analyze and fix literally anything. He was in his element tinkering and puttering and coming up with ingenious solutions to any challenge that was presented to him. His daughters have wonderful memories of working along side their dad making magical school projects and assorted gizmos and gadgets out of whatever bits and pieces were lying around. His mechanical and technical skills led him to later life careers as a home inspector and owner of a busy handyman service. Drew did not want a funeral and will be interred at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Ancaster with his parents, Joseph and Anita Batten of Hamilton. Donations to London Health Sciences Hospital or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by Drew’s family. Online condolences at ferrisfuneral.com.
