ALVINA JACQUELINE “JACKIE” (FALCONER) PRICE
At 81 years of age, the wife of the late Dougald Howard Price, passed away peacefully at the Tabusintac Nursing Home in the early hours of 12/25/2022. Her family (Sharon, Muriel and Larissa were at her side) and appropriately enough the song “What A Day That Will Be” was playing as she took her last breath on earth and entered her Heavenly home.
She was born in Douglasfield, NB to Dorothy (Brehault) and William Falconer on April 14th, 1941.
Jackie was a Registered Nurse, in the truest sense of the word. She completed her training at The Miramichi Hospital in 1962 and worked there in many capacities. Once she married and had children, she stopped working “in town” and started volunteering in the community of Tabusintac, which she did for as long as she was able. She soon became the “go to” nurse. She was the school nurse, hospice nurse, and “ask any question you needed to know the answer to” nurse. She spent countless hours nursing anyone who needed it – and answered her phone anytime it rang. In later years, she was on the original board of directors for The Tabusintac Nursing Home – this included ten years of fundraising and lobbying to have the much-needed home built in the community. Jackie also worked at the Nursing Home for several years. She always had a smile on her face and was known for having some great laughs while at work. After completing her tenure there, she moved on to the Victorian Order of Nurses – which she loved – because it took her back to the community and into peoples’ homes. She was always known to be kind and compassionate to all her patients and their families.
Jackie loved God, and her family. She was very active in her church (Victory Worship Center). She could often be found teaching Sunday School, Bible Club, and helping wherever she was needed.
Somehow, she also found time to bake her infamous scotch cookies and doughnuts. She could walk in and whip up enough food to feed the “crowd” that was around her table, from almost nothing.
She loved to play board games, and took her children on vacations all over the Maritimes (she usually traveled late at night, drove like the wind – and was almost always running “late”)
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband (of 58 years), infant daughter Darlene Ellen, brothers Wilmot, Raymond, Kenny and sister, Ethel Mullin.
She is survived by her children (whom she loved dearly); Sharon MacKnight of Tabusintac, Muriel Price Hamann (Paul) of Tabusintac, Rayelene Hernandez (Johnny) of Port Arthur, Texas, Robert Price of Fort McMurray, and daughter-in-law of the heart Nancy Lambert of Esgenoopetitj.
Her grandchildren (who she loved “a bushel and peck”); Danny MacKnight, Joanna, Jenny, and Jade St. Marie; Anthony, Mason and Micah Hernandez; Karissa Price; Larissa, Nick and Josh Hamann; Janelle and Keandra Breau.
One great grand-daughter Dylan Mary Bohach.
Her siblings; Donna Caul (Jim) of Moncton, NB and four brothers Jimmy Falconer (Ann) of Lac du Bonnet, MN, Reggie Falconer (Joyce) of Miramichi, NB, Bill Falconer (Carol) of Cambridge, ON, and Lloyd Falconer (Dianne) of Moncton, NB and many nieces and nephews.
Jackie not only helped establish The Tabusintac Nursing Home and worked there – she has also been a resident since 2013.
We, the family, would like to sincerely thank the staff (past and present) who have cared for her. Our mom received excellent care that definitely met and exceeded her expectations. We also appreciate all the messages, phone calls, and food that we have received. Your stories and your memories have helped us remember the person that she was – we will attempt to live the same way that she did with kindness and compassion for ALL.
Sadly, Alzheimer’s Disease took Jackie from all of us years ago, we are asking that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s’ society or the Tabusintac Nursing Home.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
“God, you can now release your servant.
Release me in peace as you promised.”
