It is with much sadness that we announce the loss of my dad known to all as Al. Widowed for nine years from my mother Mary after 57 years of marriage and the most wonderful father, father-in-law, and grandfather to both Michael and Vanessa, he will be remembered for his gentle nature, his lighthearted sense of humour, and his love of family, friends and animals.
Born in 1932 to immigrant parents Maria and Giuseppe Panichelli, he was the youngest of his four siblings. His brothers Oswald and Mario and sister Anita all of which passed before him. His family home still stands today on Kitchener Street in East Vancouver.
A commercial fisherman, a mechanic by trade and a landlord, he was fortunate enough to retire early and enjoyed a long life with his family and friends. Throughout his life he enjoyed many things. Travelling, gardening, reading, and attending all the sporting events and celebrations that surrounded his grandchildren through their school years.
In the latter part of his life, this would be his greatest joy. My father and uncle Silvio lived with us for many years but sadly in 2021 my dad began having many visits to the hospital and would eventually end his life in the Lynn Valley Care Centre in North Vancouver. I will be forever grateful to all the incredible nurses and assistants on Manor 4 and also to Dr. Sebba for the loving care and attention that they gave him from beginning to end.
I will also be forever grateful and at peace in knowing that I was with you to the end and that you gently passed from my arms to the arms of Jesus. Thank you, daddy, for all that you were and all that you gave, for your gentle heart, your example of kindness and unconditioned love and support through all our lives.
Viewing will be held at Kearney Burnaby Chapel 4715 Hastings Street, Burnaby on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church 525 S. Slocan Avenue, Vancouver, followed by entombment at Ocean View Burial Park-South Mausoleum.
We will miss you and forever keep your memory in our hearts alive.
You are with God and with mum.
Be peaceful and watch over us until we meet again.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Albert William Panichelli 2022..
