It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lilian Marie de Souza at the Lakeshore General Hospital on April 07, 2022 at the age of 75.
Lilian was a loving and devoted mother to her children Cindy, Jonathan (Jessica), Carolyn (Leo), and Jennifer. She was also the proud Nana of Nathaniel, Fredrick, Jack, Juliette and Charlotte. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She also leaves behind her five sisters and their families who will miss her dearly.
Lilian immigrated to Canada from Karachi, Pakistan in 1970 with her sister Denise at which point she began her career as an elementary school teacher. Her teaching career took a pause as she was a stay at home mom for many years. However, after her own children grew up, she become a teacher’s aide as well as a caregiver to seniors. As the eldest of eight children, Lilian took care of her siblings growing up which made her a natural for both professions. She was highly creative and had a passion for the arts. Her hobbies and interests included drawing, gardening, cooking, needlepoint and especially jewellery making.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Pierrefonds complex.
A prayer service will be held the same day at 12:00 pm in the chapel of the complex.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her doctors, the home care staff from both the CLSC and Rosemount Clinic, and the staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mount Sinai Hospital Foundation (mountsinaifoundation.crowdchange.ca/1573/page/13863), in Lilian’s honour, would be greatly appreciated.
Lilian was a kind and caring soul and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
