Michele Elizabeth Sullivan
age 58, of Glenhaven. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michele on Saturday March 12, 2022 at the VG Hospital, after a four year struggle with cancer.
Born in Goose Bay, Labrador, the family moved to the United States a few years later, and Michele got her early schooling in Hartford Conn. When the family returned to Newfoundland in 1971, she finished high school in one year and went on to community college in Gander. She was employed by several local businesses for the next few years, until she decided to move to Halifax where she worked until 2000 when she relocated again, that time to Montreal. Always working she eventually enrolled at McGill University, and graduated with a degree in social work. Michele was always an enthusiastic worker and had gained experienced in training, leadership and management which eventually lead her to employment with Seabourne Cruise Ships. A job she loved and one that took her from Canada (whatever province she was living in) to Alaska, to the Antarctic, the Baltic, through the Panama Canal, Mediterranean Sea, through the Suez Canal and so many more interesting places that most of us have only heard of.
Michele had a passion for interior decorating where she could transform any place into something cozy and beautiful. She had a lifelong enthusiasm for the outdoors and animals. Her love of travel and adventure took her to many places around the world
She leaves to mourn her loving husband, Wayne F. Maloney, Glenhaven, formerly of Gander, NL; father Michael “Jerry” (Anilta) Sullivan, Webster, MASS, formerly of Gander, NL; her mother, Margaret E. Sullivan (Carew), Dartmouth; cousins, Carolyn Barker, Clarenville, NL, Ronald Carew, Lisa Schnell both of St. Johns, NL.
The family would like to say a huge thank you to all of Michele’s friends who have kept in touch with her, and have helped to keep her spirits up, especially this last year.
A special thanks is extended to Aimee Bricault, Adam Marriott, Janice Fraser, and Heather Fewtrell, who were all faithful long term friends.
Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held 11 am April 23 at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Breast Cancer Cause). Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.coleharbourfuneral.com
