Obituary for Mary « Elizabeth » Ann Barr
Mary “Elizabeth” Ann Barr
November 8, 1960 – February 17, 2022
It’s with a heavy, broken heart that I inform you of the passing of my incredible wife Mary “Elizabeth” Ann Barr. Elle, as I referred to as, passed away at home on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 11:40 pm of a pulmonary embolism in her lung. I met Elle through a dating website. We got together after talking on the phone for a couple of months. We had a beautiful day getting to know one another. We hit it off and decided to continue to see each other and see where this friendship would go. Well, it turned out pretty good. Elle and I were going to get married this summer. Elle breathed life into me and brought music, and laughter back into my life. She was very spontaneous, loved cycling (she would wake me up at 6 am pretty much every day and away we’d go). Elle could carry a conversation in pretty much every subject. She held a Bachelor’s and Master degree. She loved English Literature and Psychology. While living in Ottawa, Elle was an advocate for mental health issues and sat on many committees. She would always advocate for those that had less than we did. Elle had a strong passion for horses, well, all animals. She was a co-owner of a farm in the Ottawa area. Elle was also on the riding team in Ottawa and received a gold medal from the Queen. Elle was also enthusiastic about working out so much that she decided to participate in the Iron Man in Hawaii. I don’t remember what year it was, but she received a medal. Elle was the only child to Orville and Elizabeth Barr on November, 8, 1960. She was their miracle baby.
There will be no viewing or burial. As per Elle’s request she wanted to be cremated and left in my care until such time I pass. Cremation has taken place and I should be receiving her urn shortly. I may possibly hold a memorial service sometime in the spring or summer. If I do, I will post it on Facebook. Thank you to all of you who have reached out in sympathy, in friendship and love. I know Elle would be impressed. Should you want to contact me, please reach me on Facebook. Elle, you were made for me and I was made for you. Until we meet again, always know that I am completely and totally in love with you. I miss terribly. I love you Elle.
