Obituary For Karl J Andersen
Karl J Andersen, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Care Centre, at the age of 102 years.
Karl was born in Denmark, his family emigrated in the early 1930’s to Ontario. After his initial training as an aircraft mechanic in the RCAF he was transferred to Alberta where he later met and later married Audrey. During his long life he worked in Calgary, AB, as a photographer, small press operator, and music teacher. After moving to Grande Prairie in the 70’s he worked with County #1 as a courier until his retirement.
His hobbies during his lifetime included being a glider pilot, building and flying radio controlled airplanes, building HO train layouts, and golf – a lot of golf. Karl was a regular face at the Golf & Country Club where he occasionally assisted the pro shop. He kept in “golfing-shape” at Winston’s Gym up to around age 90, where he often served as a role model for ‘younger’ people. In later years he kept young at heart through regular participation in art classes at the Creative Arts Centre.
Karl is survived by his son Wayne.
Karl was predeceased by his younger sister Ruth and his wife Audrey.
After cremation, his ashes will rest beside those of his parents and wife Audrey in Sunset Mindepark, a Danish site in Ontario.
