It is with great sadness we announce the
peaceful passing of John William
Choisnet, 76 years, of Springhill, on Thursday,
December 22, 2022 in All Saints Hospital, Springhill with family by
his side.
Born in Springhill, he was a son of the
late Alan « Alie » Choisnet and the late G. Laura (Pettigrew)
Choisnet-Rushton.
John was a complex character, with a
sharp whit and brutally honest observations of human nature. For many
years John was known to offer a Ten Penny to each and every visitor at
his door.
Known to his family as Bubs, John was
the funny and kind brother, uncle and cousin. As Big John to his
in-laws, he was an elusive creature seldom seen in the wild. To his
friends, John was The Boss; providing legendary, and often hilariously
inappropriate stories of their shenanigans and
adventures.
John followed his father into the family
house painting business. According to John he actually didn’t have a
choice, after his decision to leave school. The irony of his own son’s
career was never lost on him. After work he was well-known
as an avid horticulturist, who enjoyed his time in « the
shop ».
Predeceased by his parents, Laura and
Alan, he is survived by his siblings Connie and Jim. He is also
survived by his wife and partner of 54 years, Mary; his rock
throughout his adult life and his son, John, who he would refer to as
the good one.
Arrangements are under the care and
direction of the A H Brown Funeral
Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill. As per
John’s wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no
visitation or funeral service. Burial will take place in the
Leamington Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in John’s memory may be made
to the GOVRC or charity of choice.
Sharing of memories and condolences may
be sent to the family by visiting John’s online memorial at
www.brownsfuneralhome.com or through the A H Brown Funeral Home
Facebook Page.
