It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Mildred Theresa Sharpe (MacIntyre) at the age of 83. Mom passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the CBRH, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Feburary 17, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Murdock and Annie (Basker) MacIntyre of Mabou.
Mildred was a hard-working woman who had a 33-year nursing career working alongside many close friends at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Mildred was a kind soul and she could often be found enjoying traditional fiddle music and encouraging all to join in. She loved her family and she loved spending the summers with them in Cheticamp.
Left with a lifetime of memories, Mildred leaves behind her children, Ann Marie ( Derrick) and Darrell both of New Waterford. The lights of her life her grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler and Vayda, as well as her loving sister, Christina Beaton if Inverness.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 43yrs, John, in 2016 and also her brother Murdock MacIntyre.
We would like to say thank you to the Palliative Care Unit in CBRH for their caring and compassion over the last several days. We appreciate all you have done. Donations in Mildred’s name may be made to the Palliative Care unit and the Cape Breton Hospital foundation.
Visitation for Mildred Sharpe will take place Friday December 16, 2022 at McLellan Funeral Home 3183 Plummer Ave New Waterford from 2-4pm. & 7-9 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10 am in Saint Leonard’s Parish with Fr. Godwin Obike officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Reception to follow at the New Waterford Army Navy Airforce Unit 217. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family by visiting Mildred’s Tribute page.
