It is with great sadness that we the family of Noreen Anne (Washburn) Underhill announce the passing of our mother on Saturday December 10, 2022 at the age of 91. She was married to our father, the late Floyd Underhill of Blackville, NB. Mom passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Lyttleton, NB with her daughter Lisa, grandson Denver and her special furry friend Marty by her side.
Born in Blackville NB on Feb 6, 1931, mom was the daughter of the late Bartlett and Theresa (Bowes) Washburn. She was a member of St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church, the CWL, Blackville Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #49, and a former Superintended of St. John Ambulance. Mom owned her own take out for years and was well known for her homemade fish and chips and onion rings and also ran a catering truck that served many events throughout the village. She also worked with FPL as a first aid attendant at the former Sevogle Airstrip as well as Estey’s Fish and Chips.
Mom had an avid social life that consisted of Jam Sessions, dances and social gatherings and always looked forward to planning and attending special occasions with her family. She lived life to the fullest and made new friends wherever she went and was often referred to as being “one of a kind”. Her zest for life was inspiring and she attended every event she could and was so excited to tell you about all the fun she had, the new friends she made and old ones she hasn’t seen in awhile.
Mom leaves behind her children Ronnie (Janet) of Blackville, NB, Jeff (Donna) of Saint John, NB, Terry (Sherry) of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and her daughter Lisa of Lyttleton, NB., 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her long-time companion Pat Brophy, her son Kenneth, sisters; Florence Quinn, Dorothy Estey, Carmel Colford, her brothers; Thomas, Merle, Bob, Fred, Ronnie, Allan and Bud.
As per mom’s wishes, she will be resting at her late residence at 106 Main Street, Blackville with visitation on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held Friday at 2 pm at Davidson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Father John Beaumaster officiating. Burial will follow in St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Blackville.
In mom’s memory, donations to IWK or Ronald MacDonald House would be appreciated.
