On Thursday, December 1, 2022, Raymond Stewart Stonechild returned to the stars where we came from at the belly button age of 64.
Raymond was born on January 1, 1958 in Regina, SK. A New Year’s baby, he always enjoyed the turn of the year and connecting with loved ones on what they were up to in “celebrating his birthday”. He deeply loved and cared for his two grandchildren, Colton Reigh Keepness-Stonechild and Somara Autumn Yuzicapi, always wishing the best for and helping in any way he could to make their lives better.
Raymond « Baby Huey » had his demons and was powerless in addiction which contributed to actions/decisions that he greatly regretted at the end of his life. In sobriety, he was a good guy with a great sense of humour who was thoughtful and helpful to others. Always easy to smile and laugh, he offered good advice and kind words when someone needed an ear to listen.
Raymond was welcomed on the next part of his journey by his parents, Walter Frederick Stonechild Sr. and Beatrice Gladys Lavallee; son Raymond Paul Jr.; brother Walter Jr.; sisters Karen, Annette and Yvette Kelly. He is survived by his grandchildren, Colton and Somara; brothers Orval “Paul” (Dodi) and Woodrow « Woody »; sisters Kara and Nina (Jonathon); nephews Gabriel (Christina), Nathaniel (Juanita), Jacob, Hunter, Connor, Jack and nieces Stephanie, Sheri, Melissa, Emily and Roya; and other Lavallee and Stonechild family members who will mourn his passing.
A Wake will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at Piapot Band Hall, Piapot First Nation with a Traditional Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the same location. Interment will follow in the Lavallee Family Cemetery.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Raymond
