Obituary for
Samuel William «Sam» Olsen
Following a brief illness, Samuel William Olsen passed away in his sleep on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the age of 98 years.
Born in the Rochfort Bridge area on January 20,1924, Sam spent his early years on a farm with his parents, Sam and Margaret; brothers, Alex, Tobias and Angus; and sister, Marian.
Sam enlisted with the Calgary Highlanders, 2nd Division, and saw active duty during WW II. While in service, he participated in the liberation of the Netherlands. Upon returning home, he married Betty Arnold and they began farming south of Rochfort Bridge.
Sam is survived by his sons, Sam (Deb), Floyd and Earl (Barb); daughter, Jane (Dean) Cramer; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Betty; and daughter-in-law, Diane.
The Olsen family thank the staff of Pleasant View Lodge and the Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre for their kind care of Sam.
