BRINE, R.M. Claudette – 86, died peacefully surrounded by family on November 6, 2022. Born January 26, 1936 in Cap-Pelé, NB, she was a daughter of the late Doscithée and Laudianne (Landry) Brun. Claudette is survived by daughters, Debbie (Gary Nowlan) and Sandy (Shane Svendsen); son-in-law, Garry Jardine; grandchildren, Sebastian, Sarah and Kristofer (Marianne Greene); brother, Euclide (Eva). She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Floyd; sister, Marjorie and brother, Aris. She was a graduate of l’Hôtel Dieu de l’Assomption R.N. program in 1957. She worked at the Shediac Hospital before beginning adventures in 1963 with Floyd and her 2 daughters moving to Bermuda where she did private duty nursing. In the early seventies Claudette went back to school in Bermuda and became an executive secretary for A.C. Brewers then Goodyear Brokers. Always interested in entertaining and cooking, Claudette took additional training at the Bermuda Hotel College. In the mid-eighties, Claudette returned to Canada and became well known in Pictou as owner operator of “The Consulate Restaurant/Inn” with her husband Floyd. She was member of Stella Maris Catholic Church, Pictou, and volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul and the Pictou West Food Bank. Visiting will take place Sunday, November 13th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass will be 11am on Tuesday November 15th at Ste-Thérèse d’Avila, Cap-Pelé. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul, the Pictou West Food Bank or a charity of your choice. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Maritime Oddfellows Home, especially of the Special Care Unit, where mum was a resident for the last 7 years. Even as she got lost in time, the staff was so caring and truly loving. They encouraged her smiles and laughter, always made sure her hair was styled and her nails painted. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
