William Harold Patey

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William Patey, Age 75, on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in North Sydney on December 11, 1946, Bill was the son of William Stanley Patey and Effie (Bobbitt) Patey. Bill was a Firefighter with the Canadian Armed Forces for almost 30 years, serving all across Canada, also serving two tours in CFS Alert, and two tours in Germany. While in Germany, the family vacationed in Spain, Holland and France. Bill and his family moved to British Columbia in 1986 and had the opportunity to travel to Reno and Hawaii. He retired from the Armed Forces in 1992 and moved to Thunder Bay where he worked for airport security.
Bill had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed drawing, sketching and photography. It can be said that Bill was honest to a fault.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley (Jewell), daughter Sheila Kathleen; brother Norman (Susan), Thunder Bay, Michael (Diane), Dryden, Tom (Judy), North Sydney; sister Fay Patey, Bridgewater; brothers-in-law Calvin (Bernice) Jewell, Ottawa, Gary Richards, North Sydney, Ron Coole, East Green Harbour; sisters-in-law Harriet Patey, Trenton, Diane Seguin, Calgary, Patricia Verschuren, Dryden; grandchildren Christopher and Rebecka Yates; also, many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother Robert, sisters Mona Richards and Patti Coole, and an infant sister Deborah.
The family wish to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff of 4th Floor, Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care during this difficult time.
There will be no visitation. A private family service will take place at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center, the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
