Francis’ Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Francis Gerard St. Croix, announce his peaceful passing, with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, October 26th, 2022 at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL at the age of 96 years.
Francis was the son of the late Stan and Anne St. Croix (nee MacNeil). He was also predeceased by his loving wife; Margaret St. Croix (nee Aucoin) of 67 years.
Francis was also predeceased by his siblings; Joseph, Peter, Nicholas, sister; Elizabeth, son-in-law; Ernest Kuffner, brothers-in-law; James (Edna), Johnny, Murdock, Anthony (Aileen), Hector (Bridget) Hughie, Arthur Aucoin and sister-in-law; Helen (Fred) Dickenson.
Francis was a proud Veteran and have served in both the Canadian Army and Newfoundland Regiment. Francis was a lighthouse keeper for 26 years, he loved to fish, hunt, pick berries, sitting in the sun and watching nature. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of whom he was very proud. He also loved to have the odd beer and the odd shot of whiskey.
He leaves to mourn with fond and precious memories his loving son; Owen (Sharon) St. Croix, daughters; Trudy Kuffner, Gertrude (Robert) O’Quinn. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren; Beverly, Amanda, Robin, Mandy, Brittany, Joel, Brent, Julia, Breanne, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Francis also leaves behind his siblings; Fintan St. Croix, Gareth (Ita) St. Croix, Margaret Aucoin, brother-in-law John Forward, sisters-in-law; Lucy Aucoin, Barbara Aucoin, Josephine Ferris, Celestine Barkhouse, Sadie St. Croix and Margaret (Joe) St. Croix, plus a large circle of nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
A special thank you to the Doctors and Staff of the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Acute Care Facility. Your compassion and care will remain in our hearts forever.
A very special thank you to his granddaughters; Mandy and Brittany St. Croix for their many years of dedication and commitment of care. Thank you to Marilyn Gale and Angela Gale, for the oh so many laughs they shared over the past year.
In keeping with Francis’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
