It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Elaine Yurkiw on October 10, 2022 at Trinity Hospice in Kamloops BC. Elaine is survived by her loving children Tracy (Perry) Hanson, Tamie (Brian) Yurkiw –Braaten, Lloyd (Cherie) Yurkiw. Elaine is also survived by her brother Gerald (Lorraine). Her grandchildren Dustin, Tianna, Bailey, Joeseph, Patten, Reegan, Johnathan, Keeley and 1 great grandson Dorian. Elaine was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 57 years John, her parents Joseph and Hilda, brothers, Len (Betty), Ken (Cecile), Gord (Daisy), Wayne (Betsy) sister Lois (Bill) and 1 grandson Nicholas.
Agnes Elaine was born in Abbotsford BC the youngest of 7 and moved to Clearwater with her family in 1955 where her parents managed the Camp 2 Cook house. This is where she would meet the love of her life John. They we married September 10, 1965. Clearwater is where they worked and raised their family. Mom was a dedicated stay home Mom of us 3. I never remember a day that she wasn’t there with our school lunch packed in the morning and some sort of baking out of the oven when we get home. She loved to cook and bake as well as pass her secrets and recipes down to us. When we were all grown and gone Mom went to work at Pharmasave where she worked for many years. She loved the friendships she made, took great pride in her job and was loved by all. Mom had so many talents and hobbies. She loved to paint, sew, quilt, knit but was at her happiest when she was outdoors. Mom loved camping and being out in the boat fishing with Dad, cooking on the fire and camping with her family. Mom was the glue that held us all together she loved our family gatherings and her cooking brought us all home. We know how special she was and how she touched so many lives with her brutal honestly, compassion, love and humor. She always gave the best advice whether you wanted it or not. To know her was to love her. She is so deeply missed but we take great comfort knowing that she is with Dad.
A service for Mom and Dad will be held in the spring of 2023.
