Obituary of Marlene Cheryl Skinner (nee Carmichael)
Marlene, at age 77, passed away peacefully at the Hastings Manor in Belleville, on Thursday, September 15, 2022. She was born on July 13, 1945, in Belleville to Winnifred (Marion) and Leonard Carmichael. She married her best friend and love, Glenn Dale Skinner, on May 7, 1965. Marlene and Glenn spent life to the fullest. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children Glenda Dawn Boldt (Ray) and Derek Lee Skinner (Helen), and her amazing grandchildren, David Stephen Miller (Courtney), Jacob Lawrence Wilson, Morgan Mae Skinner, Ethan, and Nolan Belton, and Kevin and Shannon Boldt. She also adored her great-grandson Tatum.
Marlene loved life and touched the heart of everyone she met. She spent 31 years at Nortel Networks where she made many lifelong friends.
Marlene is predeceased by her parents Winnie (Marion) and Leonard Carmichael, and her sisters Carol Moore (John), Bonnie Bastian (Murph), and Rod Carmichael. Marlene will be greatly missed by her sisters Melanie Lummiss (Ted Reid) and Sharon Henderson (George) and her brothers Dennis Carmichael (Nancy), Mike Carmichael, and Terry Seeley.
She had a loving relationship with her Skinner family, Lyle and Florence, Bill (Pearl), Ivan (Mildred), Nora (Bruce), Yvonne (Bob), Shirley (Bruce), and Jackie (Dave).
Marlene was also blessed with many wonderful nieces and nephews.
The Family wants to thank the amazing team at Hastings Manor for all their love and support for Marlene and for the genuine and heartfelt care they provided the family over the last two years. They loved her and cared for her as if she was their own mother.
Celebration of Life is to be held at a later date (to be announced).
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Hastings Manor Long Term Care Facility.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Steele Funeral Home, Moira Street Chapel, Belleville (613-968-2273).
