LACEY Norma Ruth – Mom, we used to laugh that you would get the Saturday Star to read the obituaries. Sadly, you will not read this one. You fiercely loved your children, their children and their children. You were always there for us with just love and never judgment. Your one great talent and passion was Bridge. We marveled at how a woman who could drive down the road on the wrong side and could not use a key to open a door if her life depended on it could excel at bridge. You exercised in the 50’s before it was a thing. You ate salmon, broccoli, spinach and sprouts before they were a thing. Before sunblock was invented, you held a towel over your head in the sun and we called you Norma of Arabia. Behind your back we called you Stormin Norma and you’ll know why. You did not like your name. You said you were more of a Marci, and we agree. Your favourite song was “Memory”. We found the letters you left us, but we did not need them to know how much you loved your family. You were born on September 17, 1928 in the Beaches, the youngest child of Hugh and Mary Wilson. You were Northern Irish to the core. You were predeceased in 2009 by your husband of 60 years David V. Lacey. You were also predeceased by your siblings: Doris Cartledge (Charles), Jack Wilson (Mary) and Eileen Bowdry (Alan) and sadly our beloved Tylee Noel McLeod. You leave behind 4 children as you would say in birth order even though we know you had a favourite: Susan McLeod (Ian), Brian Lacey (Arlene), Donna Van Zutphen (Tim) and Julie Allen (Graham). You have left 9 grandchildren: Lacey (Morgan), Ashley, Brandon (Kelli), Kady, Kyle (Robin), Brianna, Dylan, Mac and Shay in birth order. Your 11 great grands are: Madi, Peyton, Brycen, Channing, Clarissa, Caden, Ainsley, Preston, Paxton, Max and Kade in birth order. You died on August 15, 2022. We love you – we miss you! And thank you for the memories.
