Obituary
Tracy, Lindsay Earl
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lindsay Earl Tracy of Fredericton, NB (formerly of Tracy, NB) announce his passing at Hospice House in Fredericton on August 7, 2022, at the age of 72 after a courageous health battle. Lindsay is the son of the late Thelma (Phillips) and Norman Tracy and is the loving husband of Sandra (Shannon) Tracy.
Along with his wife, Lindsay is also survived by his daughter Stacey (Richard) Gosling, his son Jeremy (Roxanne) Tracy, two sisters; Frances (Bertram) MacDonald and Paulette (Robert) Morton, five grandchildren; Brooke, Sierra and Nevaeh Tracy, Charlie and Patrick Gosling, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Lindsay was a dedicated railway worker for 44 years with CP Rail and NB Southern Railway before retiring in 2012. He lived and loved life to the fullest and left behind a great legacy for his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a true gentleman that found the best in everyone around him. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting with his family and his friends, playing ball and hockey and had a genuine love of all sports. He loved both playing and watching. Lindsay’s life revolved around softball for many years, both as a player and a coach and mentor to many. He was a great teammate and a big fan of his kids and grandchildren. Lindsay attended 7 National Fastpitch Championships and was selected as an all-star at two of them. His playing career spanned 30 plus years playing for many different teams. He was inducted as a player into the Softball New Brunswick Hall of Fame in 1998 and also inducted with several teams. He has received similar accolades with the Fredericton Wall of Fame and the Oromocto Wall of Fame in the team category. After Lindsay retired from playing, he moved into the role of a knowledgeable coach and succeeded in taking the Hoyt Thunder Midget team to their first National Championship in 1994. Lindsay enjoyed traveling with his son Jeremy while he played ISC ball in Pennsylvania, New York, California, and Ontario. This past winter also saw him traveling to Ontario to watch his granddaughters Brooke and Sierra compete in two Curling Nationals and attending a Blue Jays game with his family. He loved traveling to Nova Scotia to see his daughter Stacey and watching his grandsons Charlie and Patrick playing hockey and baseball. He was happy to see them playing baseball, as that was where he had started his love of ball. Lindsay also took great pride in his youngest granddaughter, Nevaeh, following in her father’s footsteps of being a great little pitcher. He called her his “Fireballer”. Lindsay was very proud of his family and was always there to support them. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten by his family and friends. The highlight of Lindsay’s life was throwing out the first pitch at the opening ceremonies for the U19 Ladies National held in Fredericton last week. He got to do that in front of a big crowd of family and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate care that Lindsay received at the Oromocto Public Hospital and Fredericton Hospice House.
Family and friends are invited to Sunbury Funeral Home in Central Blissville for Visitations on Tuesday August 9, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday August 10, 2022 at 1pm from St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Peter Osborne officiating. Burial at St. Columba Catholic Cemetery will take place following the ceremony. As a tribute to Lindsay’s softball legacy, the family would appreciate donations to the Oromocto Minor Softball Association, in support of advancing the game for kids or Hospice House or a charity of their choice.
Arrangements are in the Professional Care of Sunbury Funeral Home, Central Blissville, NB (368-2413). Condolences:sunburyfuneralhome.com
