Victor I Cloutier April 4 1944 May 16 2022

Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victor Cloutier on Monday, May 16th, 2022, at the age of 78. Victor was a long-time resident of Donnelly, Alberta. He was born April 4th, 1944, in McLennan, Alberta.
Victor was born and raised in multiple generations of farmers, including his parents and generations beyond their arrival out west in 1928. He started his own farming career with the help of his brothers and parents and kept growing his farm, transitioning from V&L, a partnership with his younger brother Lucien to V&R, formed with his wife, son, and his family. His daughter also continued the legacy with her own family. He watched with love and pride his grandchildren enjoy & love the same lifestyle by growing up and helping on the farm.
One of his passions as a farmer, was to open land. He enjoyed the process of opening, breaking, piling trees and roots, burning piles to eventually see it be ready for seeding. He also enjoyed preparing the land, maximizing its potential and getting it ready to produce as best he could. He loved to ditch and drain his land to perfection long before the help of GPS, spending countless hours on his tractor and scraper after a long harvest season. He repeated this process over many years throughout his farming career, even in his last year of farming.
He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, his family was everything to him. He was known to be very kind-hearted and generous with all those he loved and held close to his heart. He was truly devoted to his family, his farm, and his church, always spending the necessary time required for each of them.
He enjoyed family picnics as a child on Sundays, either at Watino or Winagami Lake and elsewhere. At a time when this wasn’t a popular practice, his parents showed him the value of spending time together on Sundays, taking the time to enjoy nature and each others company. He continued this legacy and enjoyed some downtime at Shaw’s Point Resort for close to 40 years with the Cloutier relatives, friends, his wife, children & grandchildren.
In his younger years, he was actively involved in various sports and pass-times including broomball, hockey, hunting & tracking animals. He was able to see his grandchildren enjoy some of the same sports such as hockey and spend time together at the beloved Cloutier cabin. His passion for hunting was passed down multiple generations and he was looking forward to taking his son, son-in-law, and grandchildren for years to come, sharing his secrets a little at a time. Later in life, Victor had the privilege of taking numerous organized trips across the world with
his wife Jacqueline and often with other family members and close friends.
Victor was a community minded and focused individual. He would envision a project and always made sure to see it to completion. This moto was evident in his personal and public life. He helped develop and build the Guy-Donnelly Sportex arena, served on the Falher Alfalfa board for many years and was very involved with the Paroisse Sacré Coeur Catholic Parish in Donnelly, serving as council president for many years, right up until the time of his passing.
Victor was predeceased by his father Louis-Donat Cloutier, his mother Eugénie (Labelle), brothers Lucien (toddler) & Arthur (baby), brother Armand & sister-in-law Émilienne (Garant), brother Maurice & sister-in-law Colombe (Bouchard), brother Lévis & sister-in-law Régine (Filion), brothers Jean-Guy & Pierre, brother-in-law Hans Coppens, and sisters Madeleine (Soeur Sainte-Croix) and Sylvianne (Morgan).
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Jacqueline (Rouleau), son Ronald & wife Heather (Burak), daughter Janet & husband Jean Beaudoin, daughter Celine & husband Eric Nelson and his 8 grandchildren: Joel, Alexis, Zoey, Janelle, Micah, Jonah, Eva & Charlotte.
He is also survived by his brother Paul-André & wife Raymonde (Labelle), his sister Hélène Coppens and his brother Lucien & wife Jocelyne (Bolduc), sisters-in-law Liliane (Bolduc), Antoinette (Lafleur) and brother-in-law Don Morgan and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who were all very special to him.
