Passed away at the Pembroke Regional Hospital after a battle with cancer at the age of 80. Zigmund Biernaskie of Round Lake, husband to Margaret (Dombroskie). Father to Barry (Wendy) and Phyllis (Charlie Bertrand). Cherished grandpa to Vincent Bertrand and Anthony Bertrand. Zig was a builder of many bridges and roads around Renfrew County. Zig was also very passionate about managing their various bush lots as he harvested various logs and firewood over the years. He loved the outdoors especially hunting, fishing, managing his trout pond and making maple syrup in the spring. He also was a very proud Kashubian and loved to promote his language and history.
Visitation will be held at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Killaloe on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 2 – 4pm and 7 – 9pm and again Thursday morning from 9:30 – 10:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, Round Lake at 11am. Interment to follow in parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers please listen to some fiddle music or give a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, St. Casimir’s Catholic Church or the Wilno Heritage Park.
