Yvonne Stewart
1928-2021
MAIN RIVER, NB – It is with great sadness that the
family announces the peaceful passing of Yvonne Stewart 92, of Main
River at her residence on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. Born in
Kent Junction, she was the daughter of the late Peter Whalen and late
Leah (Chevarie) Whalen. Before retiring, Yvonne was employed
as a cook for the Department of Transportation (Chip
Seal) for 25 years.
Yvonne was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Harcourt
Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting,
listening to music, dancing and spending time with her family and
friends.
Yvonne will be sadly missed by her five daughters, Linda Cail
(Charlie) of Moncton, Farron McDermott (Leo) of Targettville, Patricia
Roberts (Allan) of Main River, Cathy Roach (Hugh) of Main River,
Angela Brooks (Robert) of Loring, ON; one son, Joseph « Jr »
Stewart (Geri) of Victoria, BC; twenty grandchildren, thirty-eight
great grandchildren, two step-great granchildren and
three great great grandchildren.
She is also survived by one sister, Elsie Stewart (late
George) of McKenzie, BC; son-in-law, Kevin Warman of Bass River Point;
brother-in-law, Gordon Wylie of Kent Junction; many nieces, nephews
and her special home care worker, Marjorie Beck of
Harcourt.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband,
Roderick Stewart; one daughter, Paula; three sisters, Gertrude,
Catherine, Theresa; one brother, Douglas and two grandsons, Dylan and
Jason.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021
at 10:00 am at Thompson’s Funeral Home Chapel in Richibucto
for the family. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman
Catholic Cemetery in Kent Junction.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Yvonne’s memory
may be made to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Kent
Junction or charity of the donor’s choice would be
appreciated by the family.
The family wish to express a sincere thank you to Dr.
Michelle LeBlanc and the Extra Mural staff for all their kind and
compassionate care of Yvonne. Also thank you to Rev.
Christopher Ketch for the all the visits.
