It is with deepest sadness and sorrow that the family of Yvonne Jeanne Marie (Bonnie) McInnes, nee Bolduc announce her passing on June 1st 2021 at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
Bonnie was born in Vancouver, BC on April 24, th 1941. Eager to leave the city, her dad moved the family to Christina Lake in 1946 to begin their new life. Her childhood days were spent adventuring around the lake and she became a strong swimmer. She took pride in the fact that she had never had swim lessons.
As a young adult she worked at BC Tel in Grand Forks, where she met and married William (Bill) McInnes. They moved to Nelson in 1962 and began their life in Blewett, where they raised three children. Mom loved gardening, especially her flower gardens, and had many compliments on the beauty of her yard. The canning room was always full of her homemade preserves and there was never a shortage of homemade bread and baking. Our Saturday night tradition was Hockey Night in Canada, with mom cooking homemade fish and chips with freshly caught Ling Cod from Kootenay Lake and her hand cut French fries. Family came first for Bonnie and Bill and many memories were made camping, fishing, during the summers spent at Christina Lake, and family get togethers.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Bill of 59 years, daughter Denise (Joseph), son Jim (Melissa), son Brian (Ronda). Grandchildren, Leah, Brodie, Amy, Jacob, Renee, Ryan, Jillian, Nicholas, Katie and five great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr Tuval, Dr Sparrow, the staff at Kootenay Lake Hospital, Home Care Nurses, and Home Care Aids, Nelson Paramedics and all the love and support from family and friends.
Cremation and a private family burial in the care of Thompson Funeral Home. At mom’s request, there will be no service.
Donations can be made to the Nelson Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation Breathe of Spring Campaign.
Mom, your peonies and poppies started to bloom the day after you left us. You will be forever in our hearts.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Yvonne Jeanne Marie McInnes April 24 1941
