Obituary of William Herbert Somers
Suddenly passed away on December 7, 2021 at the Welland Hospital in his 68th year. Beloved husband of Brenda (née Bessey). Dear step father of Terra Gauthier and Tim Gauthier (Jodie). Caring papa of Austin, Emma, Kiera & Eve. He will be sadly missed by his parents William & Joan Somers, and by his siblings Michael (Sandy), Timothy, Wendy Anne, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Billy looked forward to the Somers’ family reunions every three years, as he loved his extended family. He was an avid Montreal Canadians fan, collecting sports cards and sharing them with his young cousins at every opportunity, He also loved music and attended live concerts whenever possible. Billy had a passion for golf and played until his body ached and then played some more. He had a kind heart and loved his friends and his cat, He spent his evenings driving around, eventually parking and watching the sunset. Rest in Peace Billy.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Monday December 13, 2021 from 12 – 2 p.m. Funeral Service will follow the visitation in the Armstrong Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Wesley Woloszyn as celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions attendance will be monitored, gathering limits will be enforced and face masks are required. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation.
