Bill passed away at
his home in Guelph, with family by his side on Saturday, October 9,
2021, in his 97th year. He was the beloved
husband for 74 years of Olive (nee Guthrie); proud and loving father
of Bill (d. 2014) and his partner Bonnie Bodkin, Anne Culham (David),
Jane Aubrey (Lew); cherished Papa of Bill (d. 2010), Jeff Bleach
(Erin), Elizabeth Duguay (Zac), Bruce Aubrey (Bryanne), David Aubrey
(Kyra), and Larissa Dussin (Michael); and great grandfather of Marcus,
James, Parker, Aria, Ellie, Quinn and Billy.
Bill was a WWII
veteran, serving in the 10th Anti-Tank Battery
R.C.A. as a Lance Bombardier. He was a partner in
family-owned Guthrie’s Bakery until it was sold.
He then joined Hammond’s Manufacturing where he worked until
retirement. Bill’s faith was an integral part of who he was
and his Bible was his constant companion throughout his life. He was
active in the local church where he served until he was in his mid
90’s. Bill was a faithful husband and a great dad,
grandfather and great grandfather. He had a wonderful sense
of humour and was the kind of man who was always there to lend a
hand. His family remains proud of him and what he
accomplished in his lifetime. Bill leaves a legacy of love and
faith.
A memorial service
will be held at Mrs. G’s Café, Lakeside Church,
7654 Conservation Rd, Guelph, Ontario on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at
1:00 p.m.

You may attend the
memorial service in person by registering with Gilchrist Chapel at
519-824-0031 where your name and phone number will be recorded. Due to
Public Health restrictions, each attendee, except those under the age
of 12, must be fully vaccinated, present proof of vaccination,
supporting government issued I.D. There is also a
requirement for wearing masks.
A light luncheon will
be served after the service.
