BILL (WILLIAM ALEXANDER) EMOND
Retired Area Manager-Agriculture Canada
July 15, 1935 to August 25, 2021
With deep sadness we announce the passing of William Alexander Emond, aged 86, after a brief period of hospitalization. He will be greatly missed. Beloved husband of Barbara May Wills (predeceased 2018). Loving dad of John (Joy), David (predeceased 2007) (Sylvie), and Glen. Proud grandpa of Christine and Lisa (Ryan), Cameron (Jamie) and Sean. Delighted great grandpa of Rey Barbara. Brother of Joan (Gord Deagle). Son of John and Delia (Hudson).
Bill grew up in the McKeller Heights neighbourhood of Ottawa and was a graduate of the Kemptville Agricultural College (1955). Upon graduating, he proudly worked his entire 35 year career for Agriculture Canada; first at the Central Experimental Farm and then at the Greenbelt Research Farm. During the late 1960’s he and his family lived on the Central Farm in what had originally been the farm foreman’s house.
He had a great passion for building design and construction which he shared with his three sons. Together they built houses, cottages, garages, etc. Bill loved raising the boys with Barb and running “Bill Emond Construction” at their beloved cottage on the “mighty” Gatineau River at Low, Quebec.
Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the doctors and nurses at the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital who provided the best possible care. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements made by Hulse, Playfair, and McGarry.
