Wendy Jane Marion Arnason
Wendy Arnason, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away at home, on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the age of 78 years.
Wendy was born on November 14, 1942 in Victoria, BC. Her younger years were spent between Victoria, Vancouver and Thetis Island in BC.
Wendy was a nurse before marrying and starting a family of her own in Victoria. After marrying her second husband, they lived in Saanich and Mamit Lake by Merritt, BC. It was there that she raised her three children and ran the family ranch.
She divorced again and after meeting “Mr. Right”, she moved to Princeton, BC, then to Hudson Hope, BC, and finally settled in Grande Prairie.
Wendy enjoyed being involved in all of her kid’s activities, from 4H, to sports and any school activities. She dedicated over seven years to her grandsons’ elementary school, where all the kids knew her as “Gramma Arnason”.
She also worked at the toll booth at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, where she helped make people smile in their times of sorrow. And when she retired, she enjoyed spending time on the computer, making friends all over the world, working in her yard, and spending time with family. Wendy loved the flower gardens that Grampa tended and when he would bring her fresh flowers every day.
Wendy always had her door open, always ready to lend an ear, easy to talk to and she helped however she could. She loved making moccasins and mukluks, painting, family dinners and gatherings for special occasions – she always cooked a big meal, and she loved playing cards.
Wendy will be sadly missed by Ash Gillingwater; children: Richard (Carrie) Arnason, Corrinna Arnason, and Shane (Marcy) Arnason; grandchildren: Kristen (Aaron), Jarrod (Candace), Dalton, Michael (D), Kirk and Jessica; great-grandchildren: Nolan, Hayden, Reagan, Shayne-Lyn, Josh, and Evan; her brother Brian (Nancy) Nixon; niece Kelly (Johnathan) Lambert; and nephew Scott (Christal) Nixon.
She was predeceased by her parents Frances and Richard Nixon.
Wendy passed away at home, which is what she wanted. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
