Wendell Hazen Gillespie
1956-2021
It is with broken hearts that the family of Wendell H. Gillespie
announce his unexpected passing at the young age of 65, at his home
surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday October 25, 2021.
Wendell recently celebrated his retirement from Certainteed Mill in
McAdam, NB after 23 years of employment. He had previously worked at
the Lake George Mines, and in his younger years worked in the woods
thinning.
Wendell had a passion for the outdoors, and could always be found in
the woodpile and tipping for Christmas in the fall, including the very
last morning of his life.
He was definitely a family man … he dearly loved his wife,
daughters and grandchildren. He was well known for his great sense of
humor and his ability to make anyone laugh in any situation.
Wendell is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Junie; his
daughters Coleen Voutt (Dale) and Jacqueline Gillespie, both of
McAdam, NB; four grandchildren Kaden Voutt, Shayna Voutt, Jack Richard
and Charlotte Gillespie; a sister Bonnie Charters, Sisson Brook, NB;
his stepmother Josie Gillespie, Harvey, NB and three step-brothers,
Glen, Paul and Peter Thompson.
He was predeceased by his parents Roy and Virginia (James) Gillespie;
his sister Twilla Featherstone and his brothers Don Gillespie, Larry
Gillespie and Eugene Gillespie.
Visiting hours will be held at Voice of Pentecost Church, 82 Harvey
Road, McAdam, NB on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 12 noon until 2
pm, followed by the funeral service at 2 pm with Rev. Roger Cole
officiating. Due to Covid regulations, masks and proof of vaccinations
are required. Interment at Rockland Cemetery.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Wendell the family
has suggested the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
