Wayne Dixon
1940-2021
It is with great sadness that we, the family, are
announcing the passing of Wayne Delburt Dixon, at the age of 80
years.
Wayne passed peacefully away surrounded by his
lovely family at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, in Sus on October 29th,
2021.
He was born in Kirkland Lake, ON, the son of Ralph
and Fern (Danis) Dixon.
Wayne; an intelligent, well spoken, educated man,
was a graduate of Moncton High School attended Ottawa Tech and Upper
Canada College.
He worked and traveled Canada in the diamond
drilling industry working under his father’s company Dixon
Drilling Ltd.
In 1975, Wayne married the love of his life Linda
(Bulmer) and together welcomed their son Darryl, who they loved and
cherished unconditionally. With great pride, they lived and worked in
Moncton, Edmonton, Bathurst and then finally settled together in the
Sus area.
Wayne was an active member of the community who
was involved in both Moncton minor hockey as a coach and
Moncton/Riverview Sea Cadet Corps as CIL and received a Commemorative
Medallion for his dedication with Moncton’s 100th
Anniversary. He was a proud and knowledgeable self-taught cabinet
maker who ran and managed his own woodworking business as well as
spent many years at the NBCC Dieppe in the carpentry
shop.
Wayne, a man of many talents, had a strong passion
for aviation and in the 60’s became a Private Pilot; a love
and knowledge he passed along to his son. He particularly loved bush
flying in the northern wilderness. A natural musician, Wayne enjoyed
playing guitar at various venues for entertainment and was a volunteer
with Sus Search and Rescue. Wayne’s true commitment was
spending quality time with his family, of which he loved dearly. His
grandson Ryker was his pride and joy. Together they share many
memories to last a lifetime; lunches in the woods, quad rides, a moose
hunting trip and if they were not outside you could be sure they were
together in the music room playing guitar.
He is survived and will be sadly missed by his
wife Linda; son Darryl (Melanie) and proud, loving grandson
Ryker. Also by his niece Tracy Lagace (Charlie), nephew
Kevin Vickers (Margie) and several great nieces and nephews in NB and
ON.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents Ralph and
Doris (Danis) Dixon as well as sister Loreen Dixon.
In respecting Wayne’s wishes, there will be no
funeral service, rather, a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Arrangements are in the care of Salisbury Funeral Home
(372-4800)
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society would be
greatly appreciated by the family.
