Evelyn married Bill in 1958. She worked at the Meaford Hospital and Bill worked at Amerock after he retired from sailing on the Great Lakes. A few years later Bill and Evelyn bought Evelyn’s family farm. They both continued to work as well as run the 150 acre farm and raise four children. Mom retired from nursing in August of 1990. Nursing was a huge part of her life and she earned everyone’s respect that she worked with her and made many friends throughout her nursing career. They had also torn down the old farmhouse and built a new home in 1977. Mom retired after 33 years of nursing and she and Bill built a new home in Beachvale near Memorial Park. They spent time at their trailer, did a little travelling and mom enjoyed crafts and gardening. Mom spent the last 9 years at Central Place in Owen Sound where she enjoyed socializing, cards, cribbage and crafts.
