With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margo in her 91st year after a brief illness.
She will be lovingly remembered by her 7 children: Kathy (Chaldeans) Mensah, JoAnn (Dave) Morrissey, Pat (Klaas) Rodenburg, Teresa, Mary K (Geoff) Cuskelly, Tim (Kay), and Barb (John Morley); 7 grandchildren: Brad Morrissey (Jessica Pink), Brent Morrissey, Norma Rodenburg (Mike Chow), Elliott Rodenburg (Eboni), Melissa Rodenburg (Graeme Mellway), Lachlan Cuskelly, and Ella Cuskelly; 3 great-grandchildren: Edward Pink, Madeline and Elizabeth Chow; sisters: Helen Trudel and Joan Pourbaix; and numerous nieces and nephews across Canada. Margo was predeceased by her husband Joe of 67 years in 2020, and by her sisters: Teresa Rafter, Kay Chute and Dorothy LeClair.
Beloved daughter of Alex and Melissa MacRae, Margo was born and raised in Edmonton. After marrying in 1953, Joe and Margo raised a family of 7 children, and spent some of those early years in Ft. St. John, BC, before returning to Edmonton. Central to Margo’s life were her family and her faith. She held various roles at St. Andrew’s Parish, including lay minister and parish council member. She was an integral part to the planning and opening of St. Andrew’s Centre in 1980 and worked there in an administrative capacity for many years. She was especially proud to have been selected to represent St. Andrew’s Parish as a lay minister at the Papal Mass during the Pope’s visit in 1984. We’ll miss you mom.
Gentle woman, quiet light,
morning star, so strong and bright,
gentle Mother, peaceful dove,
teach us wisdom; teach us love.
