Wallace’s Obituary
LINACY – Wallace Edward “Wally” Richard, 75, Linacy, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 11, 2021, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his family.
Born in Guysborough, he was the son of the late Andrew Pitts and Dora (Richard) Pettipas and was raised by his grandparents, Simon, and Mabel Richard. Wally was a long-haul and local truck driver, having been employed with Dexter’s, Weeks, and Warren Maritimes. He thoroughly enjoyed his 45-year trucking career and always joked that he “backed up more miles that you will ever drive ahead”. Wally possessed a “heart of soft gold” and greatly enjoyed his furry friends, Willy 1 and 2. He enjoyed playing cards, camping and attending Blue Grass festivals with his family and friends over the years. Wally leaves a legacy of hard work, perseverance, and love of family.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Betty; daughter, Lynn Marie (Ron) Clow, Hampshire, P.E.I.; son, Wallace Jerome “Wally Jr.” Richard, Linacy; grandchildren, Mia, Gracyn and Abigail Clow, Craig Richard; great-grandchild, Forrest Nidish; step-father, Peter Pettipas, Guysborough; sisters, Lynn (Ed) Verloove, Clarksville, Tenn.; Gail (Ward) Eaton, Hillsboro, N.H.; brother-in-law, Mike Francoeur, Nashua, N.H.; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Fay Francoeur; maternal grandparents, Simon and Mable Richard.
In honour of Wally’s wishes, his family will celebrate his life privately.
Wally’s family wish to thank Aberdeen Hospital 4 South staff, New Glasgow and Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital, RCU staff, Pictou, the Pictou County Victorian Order of Nurses and Shirley for the wonderful care and support received.
